Central Vietnam

We didn't stay at these two Historic cities long enough to do them justice. They are located in central Vietnam and were subjected to some serious bombing during the war. Despite that, many historical sites remain. Today, Hue & Hoi An are tourist Meccas.

Hue

Hue was the capital of the Nguyễn Dynasty, which ruled from 1804 to 1945. The old city is protected by an ancient citadel. The new city is bisected by the Perfume River.

Hoi An

Some of the old city charm has evaporated with the horde of packaged tours and waves of backpackers, but you can still make out the beauty of the cobbled stone streets and ancient architecture in some parts of the old town.
